Ok so let’s be honest – we all seem to have this love hate relationship with barrecore. You get to class and just within the warm up, you wonder how you are actually going to make it through for the next 50 minutes. But you do, along with constant groans and exasperated gasps after body-shaking sets (shaking is a requirement!), facial expressions you will never see in any other scenario and glances, encompassing nothing short of shock to the instructor during plies and pretzels. But the beauty of Barrecore? You surprise yourself every time with realising how far your body – and mind – can get through and that does wonders for the body and soul.
With all this in mind, I decided to take on The Summer Challenge, with only previously having taken 5 classes since barrecore’s opening in Chiswick late last year. Bring it on…
– How are you feeling right now at this point in The Summer Challenge, how many classes have you completed?
I am honestly feeling fantastic! After having completed 7 classes in the last week, I am feeling a definite shift happening in my body and in my mind. I feel taller and so much more connected to my core. With the core being the centre of our being, having this connection is changing my awareness of my daily posture. I am feeling overall more focused and stronger too! Putting yourself through the physical paces of barrecore not only brings strength and definition to the body, but to the mind too and your determination within class leaves with you … It’s an empowering feeling!
– What variety of classes have you been doing?
There is such a great offer of different variations with truly fantastic instructors – I have been doing the barreMIXED and barreBANDS mainly.
– Any noticeable changes in your body/mood/mind?
Absolutely! I cannot stop talking about how much change has happened and how results are literally appearing class after class. Within my body, I have toned and gained strength not previously experienced before with a feeling of lightness in carrying myself day to day. Within mind, I feel more focused, determined and strong. Become the ballerina…
– What keeps you motivated?
The feeling after a class! And also knowing that there is always a great group of attendees and a motivating teacher to get you through! barrecore is a challenging and focused workout – what other workout would you want really?
